Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation
From the new Beginner to the Elite Athlete, Olive caters for all levels and abilities. She has been involved in Athletics throughout her life, from participating in Pentathlons, Triathlons, Half Marathons and 10kms, both nationally and internationally across the world. Along the way Olive picked up injuries and from this, became aware of the benefits of Pilates. She learned how Pilates is a great tool to assist, or accelerate a physiotherapy program when coming back from an injury.
Alleviate Back Pain
This is an area that Olive has personal extensive experience in, having suffered years from chronic pain from an acute back injury. Olive spent many years training in the Pilates system which is based on it's founder - the late 'Josef Pilates', she tailored and developed a strategy to work on her own rehabilitation program and as her popularity grew with an expansive following she started teaching. This has led to her vast experience in Pilates with: Chronic pain, back pain, sports injuries, and recovery & rehabilitation.
Research would suggest a stronger core equals a better back. That's why those with chronic back pain who practiced Pilates for just four weeks experienced more relief than those who visited a physician and other specialists, according to The Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy. What's more, their pain stayed away for a full year post-Pilates. Researchers believe that by stabilizing the core's lumbar-pelvic (lower-back) region, Pilates alleviates stress on the area and ups mobility.
